 February's Featured | ArtistDarren Arthur

I've always admired people with passion; for almost anything really, but my love for artists is something I used to relate to, and put above almost anything. I'm proud to announce that my first featured artist is a very good friend of mine. Although he's very well-versed in several mediums (listed below), he's first and foremost, a poet.
Brooklyn native Darren Arthur is a 19 year old youth poet/writer, MC, producer, photographer, dancer, singer and actor. Having performed in venues such as the NuYorican Poets Café, the Bowery Poetry Club and the world famous Apollo Theater, he has experience in spoken word, slam poetry, and prose. He worked with New York Live Arts, award winning choreographer and director Nicco Annan and critically acclaimed spoken word artist Regie Cabico to produce and perform his own one-man show, “Forest”, this past December in a collection of shows titled “Black Ink”. He is currently working at Urban Word NYC, a non-profit organization that promotes Youth development and creativity through various art forms and expressions. He is the reigning "Art Initiative" Slam Champion. He is currently in a program called “Brooklyn Stories”, a partnership program with the Brooklyn Nets, Metro PCS and Urban Word NYC. He and 6 other finalists will prepare a collection of stories about Brooklyn to be performed in early February at the Barclay Center with the help of Tony Award winning Actor Lemon Anderson and Spoken Word Artist Roger Bonair-Agard. He is currently in college, working towards further his education in Psychology.
Darren has a way with words that can only really speak for itself, so rather than try to tell you, I'd like to show you. There's a little something there for everyone :]
